Index of texmf/doc/html/:
=========================
This directory tree includes hypertext versions of documentation
written in Texinfo or other formats. Most of these documents have
been converted automatically using `texi2html' or other converters
closely modeled after it. Other versions of these documents (e.g.
DVI and/or PostScript files suitable for previewing or printing)
should be available elsewhere in the texmf/doc/ tree.
The best way to access the files in this directory tree is to point
your favorite WWW browser to
file://localhost/cdrom/texmf/doc/html/INDEX.html
Even better, if you're running a WWW server yourself, just create
a symbolic link in your WWW server directory pointing to this page
to make this documentation available to anyone in the world.

NOTE: Care has been to ensure that file names remain unique if they
are truncated to 8+3 characters on ISO-9660 or MS-DOS file systems.
Therefore, it should be possible to access this documentation even
on those systems as long as your WWW browser is intelligent enough
to find a file "INDEX.htm" when a hyperlink points to "INDEX.html".

For the second edition of the `TeX Live' CD-ROM several of these
manuals have been updated to the latest versions. The conversion
was done using a slightly hacked version of texi2html 1.51 which
was modified to handle the `@url' and `@email' tags introduced
in Texinfo 3.9.

How the files were produced:
----------------------------
* Kpathsea, Web2C, Dvips, Fontname, Eplain, Texinfo, AUC-TeX:
All of these documents where converted from Texinfo sources
using
texi2html -menu -split_node -verbose .texi
All the _toc.html files were then edited slightly
to add a link pointing back to the index page.
* TDS:
The TDS draft was first converted from LaTeX to Texinfo
using `tds2texi.el' (included in the TDS distribution).
It was then converted to Texinfo with `texi2html' as
described above.
* UK TUG TeX FAQ:
The UK TUG TeX FAQ was directly converted from LaTeX
to HTML using `faq2html.el'. There is no corresponding
Texinfo version because Texinfo wasn't flexible enough
to achieve all the desired features such as embedding
hyperlinks to external FTP or HTTP servers on the WWW.
* comp.fonts FAQ:
The comp.fonts FAQ was retrieved from the comp.fonts
home page at http://www.ora.com/homepages/comp.fonts/.
