MAJOR CONCERN:

\mfpicunit (in mfpic.tex), together with unitlen, xscale,
yscale, hppp, setztr, and ztr (in grafbase.mf) are:

(1)  incompatible with their uses in xfig/transfig's fig2dev genmf.c
driver, which is based on graphbase.mf 0.2.5.1;

(2)  unclear in their implications when one changes \mfpicunit, since
grafbase.mf seems to assume that xscale and yscale are always in pt#:
so what do xscale, yscale, and ztr mean when \mfpicunit is not the
default 1pt ?
