You have to install the {\tt "nash14"} font with its {\tt "*.pk"} and {\tt "*.tfm"} files on the font search path of your \TeX\ system, and the {\tt "*.sty"} files and {\tt "arabtex.tex"} on the source search path (usually TEXINPUT) of your system. Possibly you will also have to rename the {\tt "*.pk"} files according to local conventions, and as a last resort you can try to recreate the fonts from the {\tt "*.mf"} \METAFONT\ sources. Additional fonts, whenever available, are installed analogously. \index{.\METAFONT} \ArabTeX\ has been found to cooperate well with \TeX\ versions 3.xxx, \LaTeX\ versions 2.09 of 1991 or later, NFSS and NFSS2 (not required), and previewers that can handle fonts of more than 128 characters. \TeX{\tt -}X\kern-.125em \lower.5ex\hbox{E}\kern-.1667em T or \TeX{\tt --}X\kern-.125em \lower.5ex\hbox{E}\kern-.1667em T are not required, and their additional features are presently not exploited. The \TeX\ ``hash size'' should be at least 3000 to 3500, especially when using \ArabTeX\ in conjunction with \LaTeX, and if the transliteration module is used. Use of a BIG \TeX\ may be necessary when using the NFSS2 due to the latter's high demand on string storage. Space and time requirements are not negligible, and have increased during development; however, \ArabTeX\ currently still runs, albeit slowly, even on a PC XT standard configuration. \index{.\TeX{\tt -}\XeT} % \index{.\TeX{\tt --}\XeT} \index{.\TeX\ hash size} \index{NFSS} \index{NFSS2} \endinput %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
