UPDATE 2000 Mar 13, kgw@suse.de =============================== The new lilo-21-85.rpm in this directory is meant for SuSE Linux 6.3 and based on the LILO sources contained in SuSE Linux 6.3. The problems mentioned below are fixed in this package. Two more fixes are added: - LILO now knows how to handle a 2nd to 8th DAC960 (Mylex RAID controller) logical drive (block major 49-55) - The maximal length of the command-line passed to LILO at the boot: prompt or in an append= statement in the config file has been increased to about 240 characters. --------------------------------------------------------- The following comment refers to older LILO update packages for SuSE Linux 6.2, located now in ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/kgw/6.2 The present LILO packages lilo-21-13.rpm, lilo-21-37.rpm based on a patch for LILO v.21 by Josef Moellers, are intended to replace the standard LILO package lilo.rpm (version 21) shipped with SuSE Linux 6.1, resp., SuSE Linux 6.2. Use lilo-21-13.rpm for a SuSE Linux 6.1 installation, lilo-21-37.rpm for a SuSE Linux 6.2 installation. The package is meant for systems with a large extended BIOS data area (EBDA). In particular this includes the Siemens Primergy 870 servers. It fixes the problem that LILO from the standard package cannot boot such systems. The next LILO version (v.22) which is under way at present is meant to not have this problem anymore. NOTE The second release of SuSE Linux 6.1 contains another LILO package under CD1:/unsorted/lilo which can boot LARGE_EBDA systems but (alas) does not reliably accept boot parameters at the boot: prompt. The present package lilo-21-13.rpm constitutes a bugfix for this.
